2022 - Winter- ( TTES.17 - Bai Liu ) Oriental Beauty - Premium
We selected land in the Longtan area in Taoyuan (around 400m. in altitude) to grow our tea, and also gave the soil there a new life. Natural fertilizer and the moist, iron-rich red soil makes the tea bushes grow very robust, and the absence of chemicals allows the leaf-hopper to roam freely across the entire land. After three years, the bushes were finally of age to be plucked, and the oriental Beauty produced was of outstanding softness and delicateness.
Starting in 2019, we started trying to make Oriental Beauty using the TTES.17 variety, and we make slight adjustments in processing the tea according to the climatic and other growth conditions. We’ve come to discover that this variety not only produces ripe fruit notes in the tea, but also distinct flavors of litchi and osmanthus. Moreover, the liquor is limpid and delicate, and the fragrance abundant.
In last year’s winter season (around October-November), the leafhoppers were fewer than in past years, yet we waited patiently for them, racing against time. Fortunately, right in the nick of time, that is in early December before the tea trees went for their winter sleep, the leafhoppers appeared to grant us a wonderful New Year’s gift.
Due to the biting cold of early December, the tea buds grow at a slower pace, and the tea they produce is all the richer, yet also soft and delicate. It produces a graceful flowery fragrance that fills the nostrils, and also bears notes of lychee and honey. The aftertaste is also incredibly long-lasting.
