From four generations of tea making experience, a family with fourteen Grand prizes plus many first, second and third placed awards in the Oriental Beauty competitions in Hsinchu, we are most confident in bringing you not only authentic Taiwanese Oriental Beauty but also other bug bitten teas.
Tea Master Hsu Wei-Shen started making tea at the age of twelve and even as he had to stopped making teas for some short intervals where he were in school and fulfilling the National mandatory military service, tea farming and tea making is his full time job since he was 22 years old. After graduating from the university and finishing the mandatory military services, Master Hsu started at the farm. From soil rotations, weeding to understanding the people and the environment, he put in patient and hard work to experience it all first hand.
With almost twenty years of tea making experience, Master Hsu hopes to share the best Oriental Beauties with you. Master Hsu remembers the first cup of tea given to him by his father as a kid, a very rich liquor bursting with aromatics. As a kid, he did not know what tea it was but the aromas and flavors made roots in his blood. Master Hsu was able to complete the whole process of tea making, from fresh leaves to tea, at the age of 22 and it was only two years later that he made an Oriental Beauty that was very close to his first cup of tea.
Tea making is never easy, even with the best tea masters, there are still other factors, like weather etc, that can greatly effect the tea. Master Hsu with the craftsmanship and experiences from the generations before are able to craft the leaves according to every harvest. During tea processing, all tea masters at the Hsu family work non stop for forty to fifty days. Like Master Hsu’s father said “ To make tea is to gamble with life”. It is with that spirit of hard work and excellent craftsmanship, all teas from Sporá are and will be made.
