2022 Oriental Beauty Black Tea (美人紅茶)

This union of Oriental Beauty’s fruit and honey scent and black tea’s rich mouthfeel has made this tea master proud!

We used tea leaves originally intended to make Oriental Beauty and processed them according to the procedure usually employed for black tea! We then used the appropriate amount of sun withering and stirring to ensure the tea would be free of black tea’s habitual bitterness and astringency, which made the liquor all the more subtle and layered.

The fresh leaves had also been bitten by the little leafhoppers, so the finished product possesses Oriental Beauty’s distinct fruity quality, all the while exhibiting black tea’s fullness and viscosity. We named it “Beauty of Black Teas”.

This year, Spring rains were plentiful and the climate was warm and humid. This benefited both the reproduction of the leafhoppers and the growth of the tea trees. As a result, this season’s tea is full of pectin and its honey fragrance is outstanding. 

Finally, so as to further refine its flavor and give it more shelf life, we handed the tea over to a master for torrefaction. This ensures the flavor is even more condensed and generous. 

This tea is a bounty every new Spring offers us, and we are now happy to offer it to you.
